The Department of Planning has initiated and funded a practical demonstration of cogeneration technology at two multi-unit residential sites.
The cogeneration systems, located at Rouse Hill and Chatswood, began operation in January 2008 and the first performance reports are now available.
For more information, refer to the BASIX Multi-Unit Residential Cogeneration Demonstration Project fact sheet (pdf).
The 2006 BASIX Cogeneration Report, Cogeneration for residential apartment buildings in NSW - Challenges and Opportunities (pdf 693kb)
identifies barriers, solutions and other considerations to the use of cogeneration in residential multi-unit buildings.
The report will be useful for key stakeholders including property developers, building owners, energy utilities and government.
