What's your BASIX Water target?

BASIX sets energy and water reduction targets for new homes and apartments. The Water target ranges from 40% to 0% across NSW, taking into account the significant variances in the climate.

The Energy target is 25% across the state, and will increase to 40% in July 2006.

  • 90% of new residential development will be covered by the 40% water target.
  • No new home built in NSW will use more water than the current state average.
  • The areas covered by the 40% target represent 98% of the states population growth.

The BASIX targets are determined from data provided by the state's energy and water utilities, as well as long-term climate data from the Bureau of Meteorology.
