The NSW Government has announced that the BASIX Energy Targets will be increased across the State in July 2017 following an extensive community and industry consultation process.
These targets reflect changes in construction design and new technology, and align more closely with the national building standards in the Building Code of Australia.
Typically, the energy targets for houses and low-rise units will increase by 10 per cent, and by 5 per cent for mid and high-rise units.
The settings for thermal comfort heating and cooling will also change, in line with the proposal in the 2013-14 BASIX Target Review.
The proposal was on public exhibition from 13 Dec 2013 to 14 Feb 2014.
Feedback was received from the public through written submissions and via an online survey published on this website.
